Walden, an associate degree nursing student, is congratulated by Lena Wood Warren. This scholarship is available to a PN or ADN nursing student who has completed at least one semester in the nursing program. The recipient has a 3.0 GPA or above, has an outstanding clinical performance as determined by clinical instructor, shows financial need and demonstrates leadership abilities.
Volunteer help at the Greenwood County Animal Shelter is vital for saving unwanted and abandoned animals in our community. Volunteers are needed to perform a variety of services, including kennel enrichment, socialization and dog walking, assist at community adoption events, fund raising, administrative tasks, helping with animal transport, bathing and grooming, providing basic training to dogs, general or spot cleaning kennels or sharing other skills.

I was disappointed to see that my friend Sheriff Tony Davis did not win outright the primary, but he is in a runoff and we all need to support Tony. I have known Sheriff Davis for approximately 40 years, first meeting him when I was working narcotics for SLED and Tony was working for Sheriff Giles Daniels in Greenwood. I grew up in Edgefield County, so we had many interests in common.
