Greenwood Police officers arrested one man early Sunday morning who is suspected of shooting at a residence.
Toddrekus Malik White, 24, of Greenwood was charged with Discharging a Firearm into a Dwelling and Failure to Stop on Lawful Command. Investigators will be following up, and other charges may be forthcoming.
An officer was performing routine patrols when he heard several gunshots close by. As the officer rounded the corner from Greene Street onto Gray Street, he observed the suspect standing next to a silver car, firing a handgun over the vehicle toward apartments on Palmetto Court. When the suspect turned and saw the police vehicle, he threw down the weapon and began running. Following a brief foot chase, the suspect was apprehended on the porch of a neighboring apartment.
Upon investigating the scene, several spent shell casings were located where the suspect had been standing, as well as the handgun he dropped. Officers noticed the windows on the silver car were partially open, and a second handgun could be seen laying in the floorboard of the vehicle.
