A new collaborative program is in place to service senior-aged pet owners involving The Humane Society of Greenwood, the Food Bank of Greenwood County, and Meals On Wheels. Pet food was donated to Harvest Hope/Feeding America by PetSmart Charities and is being distributed throughout the state by the Lt. Governor’s Office via local animal shelters and other non-profit rescue organizations.
"Food Bank of Greenwood County is pleased to partner with Humane Society of Greenwood to address food insecurity among our senior pet owners. It is the goal of all organizations collaborating in this effort to improve the overall quality of life for those we serve. We know we are stronger together, making a collective impact," said Wendi Andrews, Executive Director of the Food Bank of Greenwood.
Tracey Bedenbaugh, CEO for Piedmont Agency on Aging, added, "We are super excited to add this wonderful partnership with the Humane Society to a project we have been doing for many years. This is a great addition to our pet food program and will help the sustainability of it continuing in our community.”
