Ninety Six National Historic Site's 96 Crossroads Event Schedule Released

Ninety Six National Historic Site will host its annual 96 Crossroads, a free and family friendly event, on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7, 2019.  Scheduled activities will be held from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday, and 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Sunday. The Visitor Center will be open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm both days.

Historic weapons demonstrations are scheduled for Saturday at 10:00 am, 12:00 noon, 2:00 pm, and 4:00 pm, and on Sunday at 10:45 am, 12:30 pm, and 2:45 pm. There will be a guided tours of the battlefield at 10:45 am and 2:30 pm on Saturday, and at 1:30 pm on Sunday. The Sons of the American Revolution will commemorate the lives lost at Ninety Six with a wreath-laying ceremony at 1:30 pm on Saturday.

An outdoor colonial music concert will be held at 12:30 pm Saturday and 11:45 am Sunday. Throughout each day, wander through the encampments to discover military and camp life from the loyalist and patriot soldiers, militia, and women and children who followed the troops. Interactive children’s activities will also occur throughout both days.

New this year, a ranger will give a presentation “The Story of 96” at 11:00 am on Saturday and 1:45 pm Sunday.  A living historian from the His Majesties Corp of Engineers will also give a special presentation “Engineering: The Key to Victory” at 3:00 on Saturday.

Don’t forget to stop by the visitor center to watch the park movie, Ninety Six: Crossroads of a Revolution, browse the bookstore, and discover artifacts in the museum. All activities are free and open to the public. In case of inclement weather, some activities may be cancelled.

Ninety Six National Historic Site is home to battlefields from the French and Indian War and Revolutionary War and much more. The park is located 2 miles south of the town of Ninety Six on Highway 248. The park is a unit of the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution Parks Group within the National Park Service.

The Southern Campaign of the American Revolution Parks Group consists of Cowpens National Battlefield, Kings Mountain National Military Park, Ninety Six National Historic Site, and Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail. Each park tells its own piece to the overall Southern Campaign story, where the military events that took place in the Carolinas substantially influenced the eventual American victory in the Revolution.
