A Saluda man has been charged in connection with a domestic incident in which he allegedly threatened his ex-girlfriend with a knife.
According to a report from the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a residence on S.C. 246 S. on Feb. 18 just after 9 a.m. after receiving a call about a domestic incident. When deputies arrived, they spoke with the victim who stated she had just broken up with her boyfriend, later identified as Ashley Trent Ledford, 35, of 1809 Warner Rd., Saluda. The victim told police she was staying with her mother after leaving an abusive relationship with Ledford.
According to the report, the victim told deputies she was asleep in the living room when she was awakened by Ledford prying open the back door. The victim said she confronted Ledford and an argument ensued. During the argument, Ledford was armed with a knife and told the victim, “I’ll gut you and anyone else in here that don’t like it.” The victim said Ledford then went outside and threatened to slash her tires. Another person in the home then came outside and told Ledford she was calling 911. Ledford told the woman he would kill her for helping the victim. Ledford then left on a moped.
Ledford has been charged with criminal domestic violence, unlawful use of telephone, first degree assault and battery and second degree burglary in connection with the incident. Ledford has a lengthy criminal history which consists mostly of drug-related charges. Ledford was sentenced to four months in prison in July 2013 after pleading guilty to distribution of methamphetamines. Ledford currently has a charge pending stemming from an incident last month in which he allegedly attempted to purchase pseudoephedrine after exceeding the federal limit for a 30-day period.
