I am writing in response to the GwdToday Letter to the Editor dated February 15 entitled To All "Haters", written by Donna Phillips.
It seems a little pious to assume those of us who struggle to support the decisions of our president are without Gods "spirit of love and tolerance." Perhaps there are places in this nation where a select elite do not feel the burden of this recession but there live no such people in our city.
A business owner crying out against taxes does so not out of greed but because he is on the verge of choosing whether to put food on his own table for his children or to put food on the table of his employees.
This Robin Hood "Distribution of Wealth" only works if there is a surplus of money in the places you seek to take it. When you take from an employer who is barely making ends meet it doesn't matter what the cause is, you are forcing businesses to close their doors creating more people out of work.
I am willing to contribute what I can, I will always seek to help those less fortunate. Such is my Christian desire, but I know the Lord would not have me sacrifice my business without preparing a new path for me.
I fear our president, empathetic as he may be, would ask me to do just that so long as losing my vote gains him 10 others.

As a business owner I agree 100%, people think when they talk about companies & taxing they are talking about big corporations making huge profits, but they forget about the small business owner who gets caught in the same web, then looses their business while big corporations take over what they lost. Too many out there now who abuse the system, people tell me all the time that is such a small percentage & I say well they all must be in Greenwood because I keep running into all of them.
