A local group the Lifting Hearts Foundation is working to bring the Boys and Girls Club to Greenwood. There was an introductory meeting this week. We are seeing an increasing problem in the City of Greenwood with crime, unemployment, poverty, and increasing dropout rates among our children and young people. There are many people and organizations working hard on these problems in our community and the Boys and Girls Club would be a great and needed addition to help us in our city.
At 10:20am January 27, 2015, my 6th grade daughter was aggressively grabbed by a male student, who dug his fingernail into her arm. She responded by pushing him away. On January 28, 2015, I received a phone call from the Assistant Principal of Brewer Middle School at approximately 2:30pm, stating my child shoved another child the previous day after he grabbed her arm. He informed me that no teacher had witnessed the incident. He said that my daughter would receive 2 days ISS (in-school suspension) for pushing the child. (48 comments) Tuesday, February 3, 2015
Outrage over raising taxes on the right. Outrage over the specter of spending cuts on the left.
This "same ol' same ol'" response to Governor Haley's plan to trade a gas tax increase for an income tax cut has - as usual - missed the big point. And it leaves most South Carolinians with little faith that we'll ever overcome the challenges we face. (2 comments) Tuesday, January 27, 2015
