Piedmont Technical College is joining high schools and colleges across the state to help provide free information and assistance to students and families who are applying for financial aid for postsecondary education.
College Goal SC will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Enrollment Center on the Lex Walters Campus-Greenwood.
“A great amount of financial aid is available each year. Students just need to apply,” said Missy Perry, financial aid director at Piedmont Technical College. “The goal of this event is to provide all potential college students and their parents/guardians with free financial aid application assistance close to their homes.”
At this event, participants can receive help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the school of their choice, even if it’s not Piedmont Tech. The FAFSA is the first step to receiving Federal aid and the second step to post-secondary access, and it is a vital requirement for most college students who plan to pay for college with the assistance of several different types of aids. Participants can also have their questions answered about available grant, scholarship and loan programs.
“A lot of individuals don’t realize how the process works,” said Perry. “We’re here to help.”
