The Ninety Six High School has been facing tremendous pressure from parents as rumors of a safety concern have rapidly circulated. GwdToday received several tips on this concern in which we, as always, passed them onto our local law enforcement.
Shortly after 11am, Rex Ward, Principal of the Ninety Six High School issued a statement out on the district’s phone messaging system. They acknowledged there were rumors of a safety concern but assured they had investigated the rumors along with law enforcement and have found the rumors to be “unsubstantiated”.
After hearing these rumors, several parents went to the school and signed their children out for the day. Ward said over the last two days, the administration and Ninety Six Police Department have been working proactively in ensuring the safety of all students and staff.
On top of this concern, the phone and internet system went down at the High School and Middle School after a utility company accidently cut a fiber optic line. Until this can be repair, anyone needing to contact the school should call the District Office at (864) 543-3100.
