During the August Board of Trustees Meeting, Greenwood School District 50 recognized the local Velux for providing solar eclipse glasses for students and staff. On August 21st, District 50 offered solar eclipse glasses to students and staff thanks to a grant with Velux.

The district also recognized Science Coach Jenny Risinger, Technology Coach Debbie Leonard, and Westview teacher Joey Giles for creating a solar eclipse safety video for students, staff, parents, and the community.

“We are so appreciative of Velux for providing safety glasses for our students and staff to safely view this exciting and historic event,” Superintendent Darrell Johnson stated. “We are fortunate to live in a community where we have companies such as Velux and individuals who truly care about children. Our teachers were provided with the necessary resources which allowed them to have authentic engagement with students on August 21st.”
