Wildcats marching toward another State Championship
NS Marching Band Fundraiser with Panera

Print or save this image to your phone and visit Panera Bread in Greenwood on Thursday, Oct 26 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m and help support the Ninety Six Marching Band while enjoying some wonderful food.

To those who have been associated with marching bands, you know just how difficult it is to win a high school state championship.  The Ninety Six Marching Band is currently back-to-back 1-A State Champions and are about to compete for their chance at a third.  But first comes the Upper State competition this Saturday where Ninety Six Wildcats have won the last eight years.

This year’s theme, “The Wild Wild West” boast huge 15 feet high western buildings attached to stage carts that allow members to walk across an upper deck and across bridges attaching the carts together.  One unit is a whopping 70 feet long!  They also have hay carts, wooden fences and whiskey barrel drums in the show.

When Ninety Six takes to the field during competition, the audience is stunned at the creativity and size of their show this year.  But the props, as huge and amazing as they are, are second to the marching band’s musical and theatrical performance; proven, as the band has swept their division in every competition so far this year.

“It’s an overall effort” says NS Marching Band Director David Vickery.  “From the students in the band, our talented staff, an amazing pit crew and great parents and supportive community.  This is what helps make NS Marching Band successful and I am so thankful and proud”.

The competition schedule is listed below but you can see this award winning band perform locally either this Friday night during the football game halftime or at their Annual Community Appreciation Night set for Tuesday, Oct 24 at 7 p.m. at the Wilson-Campbell Stadium.  During this event they will be selling BBQ Sandwich Plates for $5 each (includes chips, drink and dessert).  Be sure to show your support and wear your cowboy hat!

This is a FREE admission event.  This event is held to say thank you to our sponsors and the community for their support.  It is a fun filled event where you get to see the show and it’s a pep rally to send the amazing kids off to the State Championship.
