Lander University will hold a memorial service on Saturday, Dec. 9, to celebrate the life and legacy of Lander President Emeritus Larry A. Jackson. Jackson died on Nov. 7 at the age of 92.
The community is invited to attend the memorial service, which begins at 2 p.m. in the Josephine B. Abney Cultural Center Auditorium. Jackson's family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Larry A. Jackson Library.
Larry Jackson served as president of Lander for nearly two decades (1973-1992). His vision for growth and dynamic leadership steered the then small college through its largest period of growth in enrollment and infrastructure. The institution became Lander University in 1992.
