ECC students and staff were dressed to impress on Valentine’s Day. Students and staff arrived at the school decked out in their best red outfits to celebrate not only the holiday, but also one of their very own.
ECC student Paisley Cunningham has a special heart. At just two days old, her parents discovered that Paisley was born with just one-half of her heart. Paisley was diagnosed with a Congenital Heart Defect (CHD). Nearly, 40,000 infants in the U.S. are born each year with CHD’s. While it has not slowed her down, Paisley is in a personal fight. She has already successfully completed two open heart surgeries and has another scheduled this Spring.
ECC students in Paisley’s class received heart bracelets during their celebration of Paisley. On February 17th, Greenville semi-pro hockey team, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, recognized Paisley and other Upstate CHD Warriors at their game.
