Springfield Elementary School will have new faces on their administrative team next school year.
Tiara Watson has been named as the new principal at Springfield Elementary. Watson currently serves as the Assistant Principal at Springfield Elementary School. In 2017, Watson completed her first year in District 50 as a 5th grade teacher at Woodfields Elementary School.
“I am honored to be selected to lead Springfield Elementary,” Watson stated. “I look forward t continuing to work with the students, staff and stakeholders in my new role. Together, I know that we will continue to make a difference in the lives of children every day.”
Prior to working in District 50, Watson spent two years in McCormick County School District as an Assistant Principal and teacher. Watson began her teaching caeer in 2005 working as an elementary school teacher in Edgefield County School District.
Watson graduated from Lander University in 2005 and went on to earn a Masters of Education degree in Instructional Design from Western Governor’s University. She obtained an Educational Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from Clemson in 2015.
Dr. Gay McHugh has been named as Springfield Elementary’s new Assistant Principal.
“Mrs. Watson and Dr. McHugh are outstanding educators and will form a strong administrative team at Springfield,” Superintendent Darrell Johnson stated. “They have proven to be a successful educators in our district and surrounding school districts. Their energy and enthusiasm will make a difference in the lives of students, teachers, and parents at Springfield next school year.”
