On Tuesday, August 13, 2019, law enforcement and district officials were alerted to a threat made on social media by an Emerald High School student. The EHS student posted pictures of Westview Middle School and a toy gun with a threatening message on Instagram. Law enforcement and district officials worked together to investigate the situation.
Law enforcement identified and questioned the EHS student who made the online threat and charged him accordingly. The EHS student will also be disciplined in accordance to the Student Rights and Responsibilities handbook.
“We appreciate the quick response from law enforcement and school personnel in dealing with this situation,” said D50 Superintendent Steve Glenn. “We take these matters very seriously and will always strive to provide a safe learning environment for our students and staff”.
