D50 will operate on a traditional calendar next year, prior to a transition to a balanced modified calendar during the 2021-2022 & 2022-2023 school years Greenwood School District 50’s Balanced Modified Calendar for the 2020-2021 and 2022-2022 school year recently was officially adopted.
The district received confirmation that the balanced modified calendar does meet the requirements of state statutes and state law. “I am extremely excited that our calendar has become a reality,” Superintendent Steve Glenn stated. “As I have stated many times before, this decision was not made lightly. All of our stakeholders have been a part of this process via emails, surveys, and public forums. We truly feel that this calendar is the best decision for our school district and community.”
At District 50’s November Board meeting, the Board of Trustees voted to approve operating on a traditional calendar during the 2020-2021 school year, followed by the district transitioning to a balanced modified calendar during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years. The first day of school for the 2020-2021 traditional calendar will be August 18, 2020 with the school year ending for students on June 3, 2021. The traditional calendar will not include Early Release days.
