One Person Killed in Collision

Staff Writer

GREEWOOD, SC – One person was killed in a collision at the intersection of Sweetwater Road and the Bypass Sunday night around 6:15pm. A gray Kia Rio and a white Ford Explorer were involved in the collision.

It is unclear how the accident occurred. Officials said there were no witnesses and the driver of the Kia Rio, who was transported to Self Regional Healthcare for treatment of injuries received in the crash, was unable to provide any information. Both vehicles were along the side of the road on the southbound side of the Bypass and severely damaged. The Ford Explorer was overturned.

According to the Greenwood County Coroner’s Office, Pariss Vontrel Seigler, 22, of McCormick, was on his way home from Sykes when the collision occurred. Sigler was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. No autopsy will be performed and SLED will provide a toxicology report. South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.

My Sister and nephew were involved in an accident here about 5-6 years ago and authorities said that there hadn't been enough fatalities @ this intersection to warrant spending the $ to put in a red light. I'm very sad to hear of the loss that has occured and pray that it ve the last! Please install a red light!!

We have had 3 people killed in separate accidents down here in the midlands in the last couple of weeks and every one of them had their seat belts on. One was a mother of five who had a wreck in the middle of town in a 35 mph zone. I wear my seat belt, but, if anyone believes that guarantees you to survive an accident they are seriously wrong. Lots of people get killed with seat belts on, it helps, but guarantees nothing. It could have made no difference at all here, something you should just stay away from.

Randy i think everything you said was so ignorant and as a adult and human being it was somthing that should not have been said weather you realize it, some things is better not said , someone died and his mother , brother sister and love ones are looking at what you said , and to clear somethings a seatbelt will not help on wrecks like this one my cusin lost his life in a accident not becuase of the crash but because of the seat belt itself , it choked him to death , so read more and obtain a little more knowledge before you do and say stupid stuff like what you just did....... as an adult we need to realize that there is a time and place for everything and randy it was neither for the comment you left , i worked with parris and he is going to truly be missed and my prayers is to the family ............
