Uptown Greenwood will be filled with local sounds and festivities  Saturday, November 10th and Sunday, November 11th.  Many events are planned to kick off the holiday season and allow folks to get a jump start on their holiday shopping.  Uptown is partnering with numerous agencies and merchants to put together a mixture of cherished Uptown holiday traditions with an infusion of exciting new activities.

According to Laura Ackerman, Manager for Uptown Greenwood Development Corporation, “The expanded events surrounding the annual Holiday Open House represent the hard work of numerous Uptown merchants and agencies.  This is a wonderful example of the growing partnerships that continue to strengthen Uptown as the heart of the Greenwood community.”

Holiday Open House festivities kick off at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 10th with a seasonal extravaganza for children including:

  • Enjoy a performance of “Smoke on the Mountain”, presented by Greenwood Community Theatre beginning Thursday, November 8 through Sunday, November 18.

Enjoy Christmas carols and the lighting of the Uptown Christmas Tree at 7:00 PM by Mayor Welborn Adams.   The Rock n’ Roll Cruisers Car Club will also “cruise” into the Uptown Fountain Parking Lot from 5 – 8 PM for a holiday “cruise-in” featuring a special tribute to veterans.

A new promotion, “Elf on the Shelf” will begin on December 13 and continue through the Twelve Days of Christmas.  The first person to locate the elf in the participating store will receive a discount on purchases. Stay tuned for more details on this promotion.
