WATERLOO, SC – The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office has made a second arrest in connection with the fatal shooting of 65-year-old Bill Ardis early Thursday morning.
According to officials with the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, Shayla Jordan Gaines, 24 has been arrested and charged with accessory after the fact of murder and grand larceny in connection with Thursday’s incident after a follow up investigation.
The alleged shooter, Phillip Heath Hollingsworth, provoked schools to be locked down while police searched for him throughout Greenwood County. Hollingsworth eventually turned himself in to Greenwood County deputies before being taken to Laurens County to face charges of murder, kidnapping, grand larceny and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Both Hollingsworth and Gaines are currently being held at the Laurens County Detention Center awaiting bond hearings.
