GREENWOOD, SC – The Greenwood Soup Kitchen recently received a grant from the Greenwood County Community Foundation in the amount of $2,500.
“The Soup Kitchen will serve over 40,000 meals this year,” said Greenwood Soup Kitchen executive director Norm Fawcett. “A gift of this significance will go a long way to helping us continue to our mission of eliminating hunger here in Greenwood.”
The Greenwood Soup Kitchen is open Monday through Saturday at 11 a.m. to serve lunch at their facility located at the United Center for Community Care.
When we see an increasing need in the community, we try to reach out and help meet that need,” said Greenwood County Community Foundation president and CEO Mark Kasper.
The Greenwood County Community Foundation has been in Greenwood for about a year and has made $309,393 in grants, almost exclusively to local charities and nonprofits.
