Investigators say the man who led them on a high-speed chase early Monday morning after robbing a woman at gunpoint at Phoenix Place Apartments matches the description of a man apprehended in Waynesville, N.C., after leading Waynesville police on a high-speed chase Monday night.
According to officials with the Greenwood Police Department, a man matching the description of the man they believe is responsible for the armed robbery also attempted to rob a McDonald’s and a Staples store in Waynesville, N.C. Waynesville police chased Rowland Fuller, 27, of Greenville, across Haywood County before Fuller crashed the vehicle he was driving.
Investigators say that Fuller matches the description from the Monday morning robbery. The vehicle Fuller was driving also matches the description of the vehicle involved in Monday morning’s chase through Greenwood. The license plate on the vehicle also matches the license plate of the vehicle involved in the chase. The vehicle was reported stolen in Greenville on Sunday, investigators said.
Fuller is likely to be charged with two counts of armed robbery in Waynesville along with charges of armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection with Monday’s incident in Greenwood.
