Pets of the Week

He’s as perennially pleasing as the go-to jeans that share his name, with one defining difference --- our  3-year-old American Staffordshire mix “Levi” loves you back --- so much so that his exultant greeting includes dancing in circles at your feet, before presenting his back for a heavenly scratch. Levi was found stray but he’s so beautifully socialized he must have had a family; his world’s full of exciting new friends, young and old, people and other dogs alike, all are welcome to the 24/7 smile and wag he wears so well. Levi’s full grown and no bigger than medium-sized, an innocent young boy and natural ambassador whose kisses are eager and gentle at once; he’s smart, cooperative and attentive, an inside dog with outside privileges who’ll play for hours and proudly show you off on a leash. If lavish affection’s the kind you want Levi’s the fit for you; meet him and marvel at just how good friendship can feel.

Lift him and you’ll see the word “pint” doesn’t apply; our “Guinness” is a magnificent Maine Coon/mix, one of the most popular breeds in the world, prized as “gentle giants” for their impressive size, keen intelligence, loving ways and enduring loyalty. Three-year-old Guinness is a stout companion with a frothy purr, a gloriously thick ruff,  and an extensive vocabulary of chattering, chirping and fascinating meow-words, (another Maine Coon trait); he’s convivial as heck with humans young and old, leaning into you to offer a tender head butt and a poignant face rub, and he’s relaxed around other pets too. “Stray” seems an impossible descriptor for Guinness but there it is; in truth he’s the housecat of the century, a companion brimming with personality who you’ll be proud to call your own. Hanging out in bars doesn’t suit Guinness; he’s at Petsmart. See why Maine Coons inspire such passion, and how giddy you’ll feel when dear Guinness pours out his heart and soul just for you.
