During a special ceremony Sunday, Jan 8 at the Greenwood County Veterans Center, John R. McCravy III was sworn into office to serve in the South Carolina House of Representative for District 13 (Greenwood).

Performing the oath for McCravy was Rev. David Evans.

To start the ceremony, one of Rep McCravy’s dear friends, Rev. David Dority welcomed everyone to the ceremony and shared some kind words toward Rep. McCravy.  Rev Dority explained how the two of them have been attending weekly prayer meeting well over 20 years.  Dority said during those times and others, he gained a deep understanding and appreciation to the type of man Rep McCravy is.  Honest, trusting and faithful were a few adjectives used to decribe Rep McCravy.

In typical fashion, Rep. McCravy gave a short and direct speech to those attending that explained how he aims to serve those in Greenwood SC.  He promises to be assessable, transparent and accountable.

Rep. McCravy has been appointed by the Speaker to serve on the Judiciary Committee in which he will serve on the General and Family Law Subcommittee.  Their first Regular Session will begin on Tuesday, Jan 10, 2017 in Columbia SC.

In closing, another dear friend of Rep. McCravy, Deacon Jesse Word was welcomed to the podium to share few thoughts and deliver a closing prayer.  Deacon Word is a World War II veteran who served in the United States Navy.
