The South Carolina Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (SC/NSPRA), the largest statewide organization devoted to effective school communications, held its annual business meeting and Rewards for Excellence awards ceremony on April 28th in Columbia. During this meeting, chapter members voted on the executive board for 2017-2018 year and celebrated the effectiveness of 145 public relations and communications programs and projects from across the state as part of the awards ceremony.
The Rewards For Excellence program recognizes outstanding communications and public relations efforts by South Carolina schools, school districts, and education agencies and associations. Public relations veterans with extensive experience in educational and business communications evaluated all of this year’s entries.
Greenwood School District 50 was among the honorees in the Publications and Electronic Media category for its entry of Going For Gold videos.
Also, during the annual business meeting District 50’s Community Services Facilitator, Johnathan L. Graves, was voted in as SC/NSPRA’s 2017-2018 President.
“It’s an honor to become President of SC/NSPRA and for our school district to receive recognition at this year’s Rewards for Excellence program,” Graves stated. “SC/NSPRA is consistently acknowledged as a state leader in school communications efforts. My nomination as President and receiving this award would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff.”
SC/NSPRA is an affiliate of the National School Public Relations Association. The state chapter is composed of over 109 school public relations practitioners, superintendents, and other educational professionals from across the state. The organization strives to foster development in the field of school public relations and to encourage meaningful community involvement in and understanding of the public school system.
