A Greenwood City Police officer noticed a vehicle stopped at the intersection of New Market Street and East Cambridge. The vehicle was running at the time the officer approached.
According to the police report, the officer found a woman in the driver’s seat, slumped over and appeared to be asleep.
The officer attempted to knock on the window but no response from the driver. He then opened the driver’s door and the woman began to wake up and the car began moving forward. The officer had to reach in and apply brakes and then turned the vehicle off.
A strong odor of alcohol was coming from inside the car. The officer asked the driver how much she had to drink and she sluggishly responded that she thought it was only one beer, then one drink and later increased to two or more shots and two or more beers.
Talisa Terry Thomas, 32 of 701 White Oak Lane, Greenwood was arrested and charged with driving with unlawful alcohol concentration.
Thomas was given three different field sobriety test and failed each. Officers located a 12 pack of bottled Coors light beer where only four remained and a bottle of depression medication in the vehicle.
