A Greenwood man is facing serious charges after being arrested for running his pickup truck into kids on a golf cart.

On Tuesday, May 16 around 7pm, deputies with the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident involving two teens on a golf cart.  The caller said they were ran over for no reason by a man driving pickup truck that afterwards left the scene.

Randall Terence Burdette, 31 of 407 Saddle Hill Road, Greenwood SC was arrested and charged with attempted murder, malicious injury to personal property and failure to stop for blue light.

According to the police report, Burdette came up on the teens as they were riding down Saddle Hill Road.  Burdette first passed the golf cart and pulled over on the side of the road, exited the truck and yelled “Hey”.  The teens told Burdette that they did not know him and that Burdette appeared confused and upset.  After yelling at the teens Burdette returned to his truck and proceeded to drive down Saddle Hill Road.  As another vehicle passed the golf cart, the teens then continued in the same direction.  Then Burdette pulled off the road again allowing both the vehicle behind him and the golf cart to pass by.

As the teens passed, Burdette ran up to the cart with a closed fist.  The teens thought Burdette was trying to attack them.   So they continued toward their residence.

Then the teens heard a loud engine noise, looked back and watched Burdette ram his truck into the back of the golf cart.

Burdette then left the scene.

Police later located Burdette driving down Hwy 72 toward Greenwood from Abbeville.  The vehicle matched the description and had heavy damage to the front.  As they attempted to stop Burdette, he refused.  They gave chase to Burdette all the way to Edgefield County until Burdette wrecked.

Burdette was arrested and transported to Greenwood County Detention Center.

The two teens were injured and transported by EMS to Self Regional Healthcare.
