Greenwood SC Chamber's Leadership Program Seeks Applicants

Nominations for The Greenwood SC Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Greenwood program are currently being accepted for the 2017 - 2018 year.

The program’s primary goal is to identify and cultivate individuals with the interest and potential to serve in our community's many leadership roles. The program also strives to connect people who have a desire to learn more about their community and are motivated to explore solutions to community issues.

For over 30 years, the Greenwood SC Chamber of Commerce has sponsored the Leadership Greenwood program, and has engaged and developed hundreds of community leaders.  The essence of community engagement is explored from the experiences of local leaders in education, government, business and nonprofit organizations.
The Chamber is planning to graduate another 33 community leaders on October 4 celebrating the Class of 2017.

The program requires a one-year commitment from area leaders.  The program year begins with a teambuilding retreat in August and concludes with a closing retreat in June.  FromSeptember to May class members participate in nine, one-day sessions.  Together, participants volunteer at Chamber sponsored programs and participate in a “day of service” benefitting area nonprofits.

According to LaBorde, “the Selection Team seeks participants who demonstrate a sincere concern about the future of Greenwood County; a demonstrated commitment through past and present community activities; a demonstrated capacity for leadership within their own organizations through significant achievements; and strong interest and commitment in participation in the Leadership Greenwood program.”

Interested individuals need to submit an application to participate (self-nominations are accepted).  The Leadership Greenwood program is open to persons who live and/or work in Greenwood County, and applicants must have the full support (financial and time commitment) of their employer.  If selected, the tuition is $850 per person and includes program materials, accommodations and meal expenses.  All nominations are due Friday, July 28.

To receive an application or for more information, please contact Angelle LaBorde at the Chamber at (864) 223-8431 or visit GreenwoodSCchamber.org for more information.
