While WCFIBER is building fiber to deliver better broadband Internet to Greenwood, it is also breathing new life into the Greenwood Community Theatre.
WCFIBER recently donated to the local theatre for the renovation of its green room. The green room, also known as the dressing room was in great need of an overhaul, just as Internet in Greenwood has been. The donation will be used to put down new flooring, install sturdy stairs, and renovate the bathrooms.
“WCFIBER’s donation to the Greenwood Community Theatre is a gift that will keep on giving for many generations to come. This theatre is a central place of entertainment for the community, featuring performances by many local actors. The renovation of the green room ensures that our cast members have a quality, safe place to dress,” said Stephen Gilbert, Executive Director.
“We are delighted to be able to contribute to GCT’s endeavor to provide a local venue for quality arts performances and an outlet for aspiring actors. This is just one way in which WCFIBER is contributing to the Greenwood community. Our plans to build fiber to homes and businesses is our primary vehicle to invest in the community,” said Jeff Wilson, CEO of West Carolina Tel.
WCFIBER is the brand name for neighboring West Carolina Tel’s efforts to strengthen the region through an all-fiber network. Through this WCFIBER effort, West Carolina Tel hopes to make a significant impact on the local economy. The company is building fiber to several communities and businesses in Greenwood, with plans for many more over the course of the $48 million, multi-year project.
