Greenwood, SC – One man is facing multiple charges stemming from the murder of Emyle McDuffie following the vehicle pursuit Tuesday evening on E. Cambridge Ave.
Officers were looking for a vehicle matching the description given at the scene of the initial shooting, which was a red 4 door vehicle with chrome door handles. A patrol unit saw the vehicle on Greene Street, followed it to Byrd Street while preparing to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, and as the vehicle turned onto Seaboard Avenue, the car accelerated quickly to evade the officers. Upon colliding with the two other vehicles at the intersection with Bypass 25, the driver fled the vehicle on foot, and was apprehended a short distance away in the East End Heights neighborhood. The driver was identified as Zantravious Hall, 24, of 502 Greene Street, Greenwood.
Investigators were able to piece together witness statements, evidence recovered, and other information to link Hall and two other suspects to the shooting at Phoenix Place Apartments, which claimed the life of Emyle McDuffie and injured Michael Lukie. Hall faces charges of Murder, Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, and Failure to Stop for Blue Lights and Siren. Hall was arraigned at the Greenwood County Detention Center this afternoon, where his bond was denied. The Greenwood Police Investigators also obtained arrest warrants for Kemad White, 18, of 107-H Windtree Court, Greenwood and Cedric Elmore, Jr, 21, of 605 McLees Avenue, Greenwood, for Murder.
We encourage White and Elmore to contact police and turn yourselves in peacefully. If anyone in the community knows where these individuals may be hiding, you are urged to call 9-1-1 immediately. You can remain anonymous, but please help us keep others from being hurt by violence before another family has to suffer the loss of a loved one.
