Over $10,000 in textbooks missing from District 50

A man was arrested for stealing books from District 50 schools.  Joseph Brian Yandle, 30 of 8 Park Circle, West Columbia SC was arrested and charged with grand larceny.

According to the report, Yandle had purchased books from District 50 previously without issues.  Just before the Christmas break, Yandel came to the school to purchase books that are no longer in use.  A school employee showed Yandle the inventory pointing out which books they could sell and which were not for sale.

As the school employee was called out to another situation, Yandle began boxing up books and placing them into a truck.

After returning from Christmas break the school realized they were missing books that were to be used during the second semester.  These books were stored in the same location where Yandle took books from before Christmas.

When the school contacted Yandle, he claims that the books in question were not in his inventory.  When they began asking questions about Yandel’s business name, he then hung up the phone.

Yandle took books from both Emerald High School and Greenwood High School.  Both schools were missing books that were not to be sold.  They have estimated the amount of the missing books to be well in excess of $10,000.
