South Carolina Association of Habitat for Humanity Affiliates hires Chad Charles as Executive Director

The South Carolina Association of Habitat Affiliates (SCAHA) is proud to welcome Chad Charles as Executive Director. Chad takes on this position following the retirement of previous SCAHA Executive Director Greg Thomas. He will oversee the association’s day-to-day operations in support of 36 Habitat for Humanity affiliates throughout the state.

Chad joins SCAHA with over 25 years' experience in construction and real estate, most recently as Executive Director of Greenwood Area Habitat for Humanity. Prior to that, he owned and operated his own construction company and held a South Carolina real estate license.

“Chad brings creativity, passion and a strong commitment to advancing affordable housing throughout South Carolina. We’re thrilled to have him as our new Executive Director and look forward to the growth we’ll achieve under his leadership,” says Tim Veeck, Executive Director of Habitat York County and President of the Board for the South Carolina Association of Habitat Affiliates.

According to Habitat Greenville CEO Monroe Free, “Affordable housing is a hot topic in Greenville and throughout our state, region and country right now. Habitat’s focus is on homeownership as a long-term, wealth-building solution to help break the cycle of poverty for hard working families. I am confident in Chad’s ability to foster collaboration among our South Carolina affiliates with a focus on mission-critical advocacy at the state and federal levels.”
“Chad has definitely been a leader among Habitat Affiliate Executive Directors within the state of South Carolina and I have no doubt he will continue to lead as the New Executive Director of SCAHA. Chad is passionately connected to our mission and has a true understanding of the importance of advocacy and partnership at the state level. I look forward to his leadership in this position as we work together to help Habitat Families find strength, stability and self-reliance through safe, decent and affordable housing in the state of South Carolina,” adds Carla Schuessler, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Horry County.
