Last week Shane Davis celebrated two important milestones with Aramark Food Services of Erskine College, 23 years of employment and his retirement. Shane has been employed with Aramark since June of 1995 as a dish-room attendant.
Shane has participated in Burton Center's Employment Services Program, which allows individuals with disabilities and special needs to obtain the skills needed to become employed in the community. “We are grateful to have businesses such as Aramark and Erskine College that provide these job opportunities", explains Joel Smart, Burton Center’s Employment First Supervisor.
Randy Moore, the general manager of Aramark at Erskine, says that Shane has become an iconic figure at the college and in the community. "Everyone knows him. The faculty, the students, and members of the town of Due West all know and love Shane", Mr. Moore stated. To recognize Shane’s dedication and hard work, Moore and his staff presented Shane a framed print of Erskine College.
"Shane is one of our greatest success stories. His job has helped him develop many of the important life skills that has helped him succeed in other areas of his personal life,” stated Smart. “Shane will now enjoy his retirement by spending more time at his residence in Due West, with his family and visits to the Burton Center Day Program in Ware Shoals.”
