On June 2, Greenwood County Sheriff deputies responded to a 911 call where a female called and left the line open and dispatchers were able to hear her saying to get the gun out of her face.
As the first deputy arrived, he could hear a man yelling in the house and observed a man pointing a small handgun toward a female. As the deputy called for backup, a vehicle arrived and a man (later identified as the son of the two inside the home) ran into the house and took the gun from the man. He brought the gun outside and placed it on the ground.
The man inside pointing the gun was identified as James Lewis Wright, 65 of 110 Singletree Road, Greenwood.
Wright exited the residence in the back door where deputies confronted him. Wright resisted arrest but officers were able to detain him
According to the report, Wright had started drinking around 7:30 pm and then started bothering the victim. As she told Wright to stop or she would call 911, that’s when he took out his pistol.
Wright was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence of a high and aggravated nature.
