Greenwood City Police responded to the area of Wells Avenue in Greenwood after being notified that he was cutting something off power poles. As they arrive they find a man carrying a set of bolt cutters in one hand and a yellow bag on his shoulder.
Bobby Dean Bradford, 55 of 1127 Edgefield Street, Greenwood SC was arrested and charged with Metals/injury to real property to obtain nonferrous metals, damage of $5,000 or more and also possession of tools of crime.
Bradlford admitted to the police that he had cut wires off of every other pole on Creswell Ave, Main Street and Wells Ave. He said he was wanting to get his kids something nice for Thanksgiving and that he was unable to find work. He also told them he has a history of meth abuse.
CPW was contacted and said their estimate of damages were around $3,000 but that was not including labor cost to repair the damages.
Other tools found on Bradford were bolt cutters, wire cutters, pliers, 7mm socket, and flashlight along with the yellow bag containing stripped copper wire.
