On March 1 the Self Regional Community Health Committee presented Meg’s House with a check for $74,000.

The community-based nonprofit, Meg’s House, offers emergency shelter and supportive services for women and children who are victims of domestic violence, and emergency shelter to men who are victims of family violence.

Executive Director of Meg’s House, Alice Hodges, detailed the use of the funds as part of the G.A.M.E.S transitional housing project.

“G.A.M.E.S. is a housing program for victims of domestic violence families. Participants have two major outcomes, which are to increase their total income and exit the program into permanent housing. We provide housing to domestic violence victims and their dependent children, regardless of income, along with case management, mental health counseling, transportation to work and daycare and coordination with other agencies to meet the needs of families in the program. We are thankful to Self Regional for these funds, and what they will do to help many individuals in our community.”

If you would like to know more about the Self Regional Healthcare Community Health Committee, please contact Selynto Anderson, Prevention and Wellness Manager for Self Regional Healthcare, at (864) 725- 4164.
