Inclement Weather Prompts Venue Change for Festival's Juried Arts and Crafts Show

The SC Festival of Flowers’ main weekend kicks off on Friday and organizers have moved the event venue of the Juried Arts and Crafts Show from the outdoor Uptown Market to indoors at the James Medford Family Event Center, located on the campus of Piedmont Technical College.  Based on National Weather Service reports for the weekend, anticipated inclement weather prompted the venue change from the Uptown area.

Admission is free and the public is invited to visit the show from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7th and Saturday, June 8th.  “You’ll be amazed at the incredible handmade and creative works, so get ready to shop!,” said Austin Hough, Festival Coordinator. The show features handmade, original work from talented artists and crafts people.   “You can also see the creative process in action with several of our exhibitors demonstrating their craft in their booths,” said Hough.

Two other popular festival events, Kidfest and the Photography Exhibit & Contest, have been moved to Piedmont Tech.  An educational and interactive “butterfly encounter” is a new attraction onsite for families and children to experience throughout the weekend.

Talented local and regional singers will perform.  Friday performers include:

10 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Trio of Jake Bartley, Ashby Stokes, & Keller Ridgeway

2 - 4 p.m. - Becky Greene

On Saturday, Chris Hardy, a performer from the Aiken area performs from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

The venue address is 620 N. Emerald Road and the Medford Center is located on the rear of the campus.  Food and concessions will also be available for purchase.
