Police investigating Burger King robbery

Greenwood City Police responded to Burger King on the bypass near New Spring Church last night around 10:30 p.m. for a robbery.

According to the report, the suspect entered through a back door that was open because employees were taking out trash.  An employee noticed a black male suspect in the office getting the bank bag from the safe.  The employee confronted the suspect as he was attempting to leave out the back door and a physical altercation began.  The suspect punched the employee in the face and elbowed her in the side and ran out.  The employee told police that the suspect did have a handgun but could not provide any details.

Two other witnesses heard the altercation and seen the suspect run out the back door and they began chasing him.  After a short chase the suspect pulled a handgun and pointed it at them.  They described the gun as silver on top with black bottom.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’ tall wearing all black and wearing red underwear.  Age maybe late teen to early 20’s.

Investigators were able to view video footage that supported the described events.  The suspect crossed Leonard Street and entered the back door which was propped open.  He then went straight to the office area and sat down in a chair, opened the safe and retrieved a bank bag.  He then left out the back and a struggle began with one of the employees.  He then left crossing back over Leonard Street heading North.
