A Magical Evening: Burton Center Ball

“You’re The Best Thing That Ever Happened” was the theme of the Burton Center Ball last Thursday night.  Over 500 people enjoyed an evening of delicious food, music and dancing.  The Burton Supremes opened with two songs before the Swingin’ Medallions took the stage.  The Swingin’ Medallions never disappoint.  They have a way of drawing people into the music, which was evident as people danced all night long.

“What a magical, beautiful evening! So many people made this unforgettable ball possible.   We hope it was the best time they have ever had,” stated Laurie Cordell, Interim Executive Director.

The Ball, held every two years, is made possible by the Burton Center Foundation and the people who provide support.  “We thank the Swingin’ Medallions, Burton Supremes, Lee’s Barbecue, Piedmont Technical College, Lander University Nursing Department, our many volunteers, dedicated staff members and everyone who made this evening possible,” stated Cordell.

Burton Center for Disabilities and Special Needs is a non-profit, multi-county agency, providing services for over 1,000 people with disabilities and special needs (autism, intellectual disabilities, head injuries, spinal cord injuries and related disabilities) in Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenwood, Lexington, McCormick and Saluda counties.  Burton Center’s mission is to Discover and Develop Unlimited Potential.

Services include: family support (respite, medical supplies, medical equipment, personal care aide services, attendant care services), day services for adults at four centers located in Greenwood, Lexington, Saluda and Ware Shoals (vocational, supported employment, self-help and academic training), early intervention, residential services (26 community residences, 3 supervised living programs, 9 community training home I’s) and case management.
