On 01-10-2020 the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office arrested two individuals on charges stemming from a reported incident of theft by Thomas Broome Chandler regarding his 2012 Ford F650, 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, and a 2019 Coachmen Camper from the Epworth Community of Greenwood County, SC on the morning of Jan 3, 2020.

On that morning just a few hours after the report of theft, the three items were discovered on Warner Rd in Greenwood County, a secluded dirt road, only a few miles from the location of the reported theft. Here, Deputies discovered the charred remains of the reported 2011 Chevrolet and the 2019 Coachmen Camper, along with the 2012 F650 that was partially damage by fire. The State Law Enforcement Division was then contacted to assist the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation of the suspicious fires.

Concluding a week long investigation and interviews with both suspects, Investigators of the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office and the State Law Enforcement Division were able to determine that Chandler and Page conspired together to intentionally set fire to all three of these items, after reporting them stolen, with further intent of eventually profiting financially.

Thomas Broome Chandler and Michael Shane Page were arrested on January 10, 2020 and charged with three counts of Arson 3rd and Criminal Conspiracy.

Chandler was additionally charged with Filing a False Report of a Felony for the bogus report of the theft of his two vehicles and camper.

“I would like to thank the men and women of our Sheriff’s Office and the State Law Enforcement Division for their tenacious work on this investigation” said Sheriff Dennis Kelly.
