Lander women's basketball drops close contest to UNC Pembroke

PEMBROKE, N.C. – Jonissa Monley scored 26 points and two UNC Pembroke players recorded double-doubles as the Braves edged Lander 63-60 in a Peach Belt Conference battle on Wednesday night.

Lander falls to 10-5 overall and 4-3 in the PBC, while UNCP moves to 12-4, (7-2).

Lander falls on the road to UNC Pembroke, 83-69

PEMBROKE, N.C. – UNC Pembroke placed five players in double figures Wednesday night as the Braves defeated Lander, 83-69, in a Peach Belt Conference contest.

Lander falls to 5-11 overall and 2-5 in the PBC, while UNCP moves to 14-4, (7-2).

Lander women's soccer to hold Winter ID Clinic on Feb. 18

The Lander University women's soccer program will hold a Winter ID Clinic on Feb. 18, 2017 at the Jeff May Complex from 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Clinic Website)

The clinic is designed to give each camper an inside look into what it means to be a collegiate soccer player. There will be two training sessions that mirror those that the Lander women's soccer players use during the regular season.

The registration fee is $110 and lunch will be provided.

Lander volleyball to host individual/team summer camp

The Lander volleyball program will host the Bearcat Volleyball Summer Camp, June 9-11, 2017, at Lander University. Individual and Team camps will be offered. (Registration Forms)

Individual players from grades 1-12 are welcome, as well as middle school and high school teams. 

The Bearcats are coming off their third consecutive 20-win season and their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

Washington, Purdie, Tate lead Lander past Flagler

JR Washington, Rahu Purdieand Chris Tate scored a combined 52 points as the Lander Bearcats beat Peach Belt Conference rival Flagler College 73-58 Wednesday night at Horne Arena.

Lander improved to 5-9 overall, 2-3 in the Peach Belt.

Johnson, Talackova help Lander pull away from Flagler

Breshay Johnson led six Lander double-figure scorers with 24 points as the Bearcats scored the final 13 points of the third quarter, pulling away from pesky Peach Belt Conference foe Flagler College 97-75 Wednesday night at Horne Arena.

Lander extended its home-court winning streak to 13 games dating back to the 2015-16 season, improving to 10-3 overall, 4-1 in the PBC.

Lander's Reynolds selected Peach Belt Player of the Week

Lander's Ty'hesha Reynolds, a 5-5 senior from Savannah, Ga., was selected as the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week for women's basketball it was announced by the PBC office today.

Reynolds became the 12th player in league history to put up 40 or more points as she tied a Lander school record with 41 in a 21-point win over No. 23 Clayton State.

Washington rises to 4th in career scoring, but Lander falls

JR Washington scored 20 points to move into fourth place on Lander's all-time career scoring list but the Bearcats could not complete a rally, falling to Peach Belt Conference rival Clayton State University 89-80 Wednesday night at Horne Arena.

Lander fell to 3-9 overall, 0-3 in the Peach Belt. The Lakers improved to 7-5, 2-1.

Reynolds, McKenith lead Lander women to New Year's Eve win

GREENWOOD – Ty'hesha Reynolds scored 25 points and Mylea McKenith added 20 as the Lander Bearcats closed the 2016 calendar year by outscoring Johnson C. Smith University 22-7 over the last six minutes, winning the non-conference game 80-67 on New Year's Eve afternoon at Horne Arena.

Washington, Ross pace Lander in loss to Limestone

GREENWOOD – JR Washington scored 24 points but the Lander Bearcats fell short in their final non-conference game of the season, losing to Limestone College 83-81 Thursday night at Horne Arena.

Lander fell to 3-7 on the season. The Saints improved to 10-2.

Lander falls to USC, Washington moves up scoring list

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Facing a Division I program that won 25 games last season, the Lander Bearcat men's basketball team shook off a rough start to outscore South Carolina 46-37 in the second half before falling to the Gamecocks by a score of 90-62 on Tuesday night in Colonial Life Arena.

Kevin Scola named Lander cross country coach

GREENWOOD – Kevin Scola, a New Jersey native with nearly a decade of coaching experience at the collegiate level, has been named the new cross country head coach at Lander University, Associate Athletic Director Kevin Pederson announced today.

"Lander's a wonderful school and it's a wonderful opportunity," Scola said. "I can not wait to get involved in the community and help get the program started and moving forward.

Lander drops PBC contest at North Georgia

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – In a game that featured four ties in the final 10 minutes, the Lander men's basketball team came up just short at North Georgia, 76-73, on Monday night in a Peach Belt game in Memorial Hall. 

Lander falls to 3-6 and 0-2 in PBC play. North Georgia improves to 6-5, (2-0).

North Georgia triumphs over Lander, 75-62

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Lander women's basketball team placed three players in double figures Monday night, but could never get their momentum going as the Bearcats lost to North Georgia, 75-62, in a Peach Belt Conference game in Memorial Hall.

North Georgia improves to 10-1 overall and 2-0 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 6-3, (1-1).

Lander rallies to upset No. 21 Limestone

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Lander women's basketball team outscored 21st-ranked Limestone 27-14 in the fourth quarter and erased a late six-point deficit as the Bearcats notched an 81-72 win over the Saints at the Timken Center on Wednesday night.

Lander's Dotson earns first-team All-American honors

Senior Halle Dotson has been named a first-team AVCA Division II All-Region, it was announced today by the coaches' association.

Dotson is the fifth Lander volleyball player to earn an All-American honors from the AVCA. The Titusville, Fla, native hit a team-high .237 with 426 kills (3.55/set) and 89 total blocks, while leading the Peach Belt Conference with 1,248 total attacks.

JR Washington hit a 3-pointer with 31 seconds left as the Lander Bearcats outscored Erskine 24-9 over the game's final nine minutes, outlasting their rival Flying Fleet 67-64 Thursday night at Horne Arena.

Ty'hesha Reynolds scored 30 points and teammate Breshay Johnson was eight for eight from the floor as the Lander Lady Bearcats extended their winning streak over Erskine to 13 games, beating the Lady Fleet 89-46 Thursday night at Horne Arena.

The Lander men's soccer program will host a winter ID camp on January 14, 2017, at Van Taylor Stadium. High school juniors and seniors are eligible to attend. (Register)

Campers will enjoy a two training sessions, lunch, a guided tour of the Lander University campus and a recruiting seminar.
