Adidas and Lander University announced a landmark five-year partnership today, making Adidas the official athletic footwear, apparel and accessory brand of the Bearcats through the 2021-22 season.
"I truly believe that this is a 'game-changer' for our athletic department," said Brian Reese, Director of Athletics for Lander University. "This agreement will have a significant impact on our departmental budget over the next several years and we will be able to outfit our athletic teams at a very high level. Our student-athletes, coaches, and staff are looking forward to working with our new partner for many years to come."
The partnership, which makes Lander University one of the over 90 NCAA Adidas schools, begins with the 2017-18 seasons.
Adidas has developed high-performance footwear, apparel and accessories for collegiate programs including Arizona State, East Carolina, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiville, Mississippi State, Nebraska, N.C. State, Texas A&M and Miami.
"Our tennis teams are excited to be part of an Adidas school” said Brett Simpson, Lander men and women’s tennis coach. “Adidas makes a quality product both in clothing and footwear and will be well represented on Lander's athletic courts and fields."
Lander sponsors 10 varsity athletic teams and features over 190 student athletes that compete in the Peach Belt Conference. Seven different Bearcat teams made the NCAA Tournament last season and four different teams have been nationally ranked this year.
