FLORENCE, Ala. – The No. 7-ranked Lander men's golf team takes on 19 other teams this week at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional at the par-72, 7,407-yard Fighting Joe at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. The Bearcats, who are making their sixth appearance in an NCAA Regional, are the No. 1 seed in the Southeast.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament began this morning at 7:30 a.m. on. Lander will begin play Monday paired with West Florida and Lynn at noon. The top seven teams will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championship May 22-26 at Reunion Resort in Kissimmee, Fla.
Lander is searching for its first appearance at the national championship since 2007, when the Bearcats finished 14th.
The Bearcats won the Bearcat Classic and finished second at the Peach Belt Conference Championships. Lander has finished in the top three in six of their 10 events this season and has the second-lowest stroke average in the PBC.
