PGA Junior League Golf New to Greenwood
Program allows boys and girls to learn and play golf on teams with friends

PGA Junior League Golf has been brought back to Greenwood, where PGA Professional Tommy Pendley captains an impressive four teams made up of 39 boys and girls at The Links at Stoney Point. This year, a record of more than 40,000 boys and girls (as of June 2017) are participating in PGA Junior League Golf, surpassing the 36,000 participants across 2,900 teams in 2016.

PGA Junior League Golf is a fun, social and inclusive opportunity for boys and girls to learn and enjoy the game of golf under the direction of PGA and LPGA Professionals who serve as team captains, ensuring kids are given the opportunity to learn from the experts in the game. They wear numbered jerseys, and play on teams with their friends, utilizing the two-person scramble format for competition—which reinforces the team concept and creates a nurturing environment for learning the game.

“PGA Junior League Golf brings an exciting team concept to a game that boys and girls can enjoy throughout their lives,” said PGA President Paul Levy. “With PGA Junior League Golf, PGA and LPGA Professionals teach golf, while also instilling in kids important character skills and values that are such a great part of this game.”

With parents and family members also encouraged to serve as coaches, volunteers and spectators, PGA Junior League Golf involves the entire family and introduces them to an all-ages sport they can play and enjoy together.

The program has also gained the support of several PGA and LPGA Tour players, including Rory McIlroy, Michelle Wie, Rickie Fowler and Lexi Thompson, who are Official Ambassadors for PGA Junior League Golf.

PGA Junior League Golf is the flagship internal program for the youth pillar of PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America. PGA REACH helps ensure that youth in need have access to PGA Junior League Golf by removing cost-associated barriers. For more information, visit
