Tekker, Hash named to Lander baseball coaching staff

Lander University head baseball coach Jason Burke announced the addition of Cameron Tekker and Brett Hash to the baseball coaching staff on Saturday. Tekker will serve as a student assistant coach and work with pitchers, while Hash will be a volunteer assistant coach and assist with hitters and infielders, as well as baserunning.

Tekker made 32 appearances on the mound, including eight starts, for the Bearcats from 2015-17, posting a 6-5 record with two saves and 75 strikeouts. A native of Waxhaw, N.C., Tekker finished the 2017 season with a 5-2 record on the mound. In 2015, Tekker led the Lander pitching staff with 17 appearances. Prior to coming to Lander, Tekker spent two seasons at the University of Virginia, where he helped the Cavaliers reach the College World Series in 2014.

"As a coach, it is really cool to have someone that played in the program be a part of the coaching staff," said Burke. "Cameron is well respected by his peers and had a great season last year with us. He will be a huge help with the pitching staff this year. His knowledge of what we try to teach will be a great asset."

Hash arrives in Greenwood after spending two seasons at Wofford College, where he played in all 116 games from 2015-16, making 114 starts. In two seasons with the Terriers, Hash batted .312 with 27 doubles, one triples, 22 home runs and 104 RBI. He began his collegiate career at Harford Community College, where he played under current Lander assistant J.T. Maguire. At Harford, Hash set the single-season home run record and was named an NJCAA All-American. In 2015, he earned the NJCAA Marucci Elite Hitter Award, batting .443 with 16 doubles, seven triples, 14 home runs and 70 RBI.

"We are very excited to add Brett to the staff," Burke said. "With the relationship that he has with J.T. and myself, it should be an easy transition for him here at Lander to start his coaching career. Brett was a great player at a high level and will be an even better coach."
