Seniors Ian Foulger and Sam Lofts, junior Jordan Skelton and sophomore Dean Cowdroy were the four members of the Lander men's soccer team that were named to the 2017 Peach Belt Conference Men's Soccer All-Academic team, the league office announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Foulger held the highest grade point average among the Bearcats honored with a cumulative 3.60 grade point average. The business major and Haverhill, England, native has posted one goal and one assist this season, while helping Lander's defense post six shutouts.
Cowdroy notched a 3.40 cumulative grade point average as a business major and has posted a 9-1-1 record in goal. The Canberra, Australia native has allowed just 12 goals this season while making 35 saves.
Lofts, an education major, owns a 3.40 grade point average. The Swindon, England, native leads the Bearcats with 18 points this season off seven goals and four assists. He has started all 15 matches this year and has netted a pair of game-winners.
Skelton has recorded a 3.39 cumulative grade point average as a business major. The Newcastle, England, native is tied for the team lead with seven goals and has added three assists this season. The Bearcat captain has anchored a defense that has surrendered just 1.27 goals per match this season.
To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
