Game Summary: The Cubs and Iron Birds faced off for the first time this season, and both teams showed up with high-level pitching. The Iron Birds took an early lead when scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the first. Alan Michael Shay, of the Iron Birds, dominated with 5 innings of no hit baseball, including 11 strikeouts. The Cubs provided their own spectacular pitching behind Hampton Ashley’s 5 innings of pitching, allowing 3 hits with 11 strikeouts. The game excitement grew as they entered the last inning. The Cubs managed to rally 2 runs, and loaded the bases with two outs. The Iron Birds managed to make a good play on a groundball to 2nd base that ended the inning, and the game.
