10U Game

Home Team - Score:  River Dogs – 2

Away Team - Score:   Flying Squirrels – 8

 

Game Summary:  The Flying Squirrels had the pitching working all game with Brycen Moore pitching four innings with 7 strikeouts, and 1 run allowed. Finn Howard closed it out with back to back strike outs in the bottom of the fifth.  The River Dogs started to make a run in the bottom of the 5th, but were stopped short when Jameson Pate made a diving stop at 1st base to prevent the runners on base from scoring.

 

Hitting Stats – River Dogs:  Wyatt Hodges (2-2, Single, Double, 1 run scored), Matt Weir (2-3, 2 Singles)

 

Hitting Stats – Flying Squirrels:  Brycen Moore (2-2, 2 singles, 2 runs scored, 1RBI), Finn Howard (1-3, 1 run scored, 1RBI), Elliot Lantz (2-2, 1 run scored).

 

 

12U Game

Home Team - Score:  Iron Birds – 3

Away Team - Score:  Cubs – 2

 

Game Summary:  The Cubs and Iron Birds faced off for the first time this season, and both teams showed up with high-level pitching.  The Iron Birds took an early lead when scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the first.  Alan Michael Shay, of the Iron Birds, dominated with 5 innings of no hit baseball, including 11 strikeouts.  The Cubs provided their own spectacular pitching behind Hampton Ashley’s 5 innings of pitching, allowing 3 hits with 11 strikeouts.  The game excitement grew as they entered the last inning.  The Cubs managed to rally 2 runs, and loaded the bases with two outs.  The Iron Birds managed to make a good play on a groundball to 2nd base that ended the inning, and the game. 

 

Hitting Stats – Iron Birds:   Ryder (1-2), Bentley Setzler (2-2, Double, 2RBI)

 

Hitting Stats – Cubs:   Jayden Adams (1-3)
