GALL Game Reports for Monday, April 30

8U Game #1

Home Team - Score:  Young Guns – 11

Away Team - Score:   Fireflies – 12

 

Game Summary:  In the game of the night, the Young Guns and Fireflies traded blows back and forth, going into extra innings to decide a victor.  The Fireflies took an early 6-2 lead.  However, in the 4th inning, the Young Guns loaded up the bases, and got a key hit from Cooper Chrisley, who put a well-placed hit into right field resulting in a grand slam to tie the game at 6-6.  The Fireflies answered back, getting the score to 11-8 going in to what looked to be the last inning of the game due to time.  The Young Guns pushed the score to 11-10 when the final out was made in the bottom of the 5th.  The game was initially called, but a correction was made due to there being less than a minute left before the time limit.  With the game restarting in the 6th, the Fireflies were held scoreless.  The Young Guns quickly ties it up in the bottom of the 6th, and were poised to win the game with runners on 1st and 2nd, with no outs.  However, the next hit was a hard line drive straight the Fireflies 2nd baseman, Preston White, who managed to catch the ball, tag 2nd base, and then throw to 1st for the inning ended, game saving, triple play!  In the 6th inning, the Fireflies put one run on the board for a 1-run lead.  The young Guns had one more opportunity with a runner on 3rd with two outs, but a ground ball to the pitcher, Michael Davis, was scooped up and the final out was made at 1st base.

Home Team - Score:  Braves – 8

Away Team - Score:   Rockets – 4

 

Game Summary:  The Braves jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st inning. The Braves scored another in the 5th, and 3 runs in the 6th. The Rockets played hard, scoring 1 in the 4th, 1 in the 5th, and 2 in the 6th to cut the lead in half. In the end, the Braves offense was too strong and had a good win.

10U Game

Home Team - Score:  Crushers – 8

Away Team - Score:   Flying Squirrels – 9

 

Game Summary:  It was a candidate for game of the night with a very tightly contested contest. Both teams scored early with a 2-1 game after one inning of play. The Squirrels had a 4 run 2nd inning and a 5 run 4th inning to take a 9-5 lead headed into the bottom of the final inning. The Crushers scored three runs and had the tying run on first with one out. Bryce Moore threw the runner out at second on an attempted steal and Finn Howard struck out the next batter to end the game.

 

Hitting Stats – Crushers:  Noah Buff (3-3), Tate Jackson (2-3), Aiden Harvley (1-11), Leland Reed (1-1)

 

Hitting Stats – Flying Squirrels:  Bryce Moore (2-2, BB, 3 Runs Scored), Finn Howard (2-2, BB, 2 Runs Scored), Brett Hall (3-3, 5 RBI), Jameson Pate (1-2, BB, 1 HR, 3 RBI)

 

12U Game

Home Team - Score:  Cubs – 6

Away Team - Score:  Senators – 5

 

Game Summary:  Another nail biting game between the Cubs and Senators with the Cubs winning with a walk off hit.  Jayden Adams drove in 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to take the win.  Maddox Moore struck out 9 for the Senators, with John Aiden Helms striking out 9 to match.  With the Cubs leading 3-1 going into the 5th the Senators were able to strike for 4 runs, aided by a 2 RBI hit from Reid Vines and 1 RBI hit from Bryce Seaborn to take a 5-3 lead.  The Cubs came back in the bottom half of the inning with a lead off inside the park homer from Ryan Stone followed by a 2 RBI hit from Jayden Adams to take the win.

 

Hitting Stats – Cubs:   Ryan Stone (3-3, HR, 3 Runs Scored), Andrew Drive (1-3, Run Scored), Jayden Adams (2-3, Double, 2 RBI)
