Lander men's golf unveils 2018-19 slate, featuring nine tournaments

Lander men's golf head coach Mark Riddle released the 2018-19 schedule on Tuesday. The Bearcats will play a total of nine tournaments over the course of the regular season, highlighted by the Bearcat Classic, March 25-26, at the Greenwood Country Club.

"We are excited about our men's golf team with seven new faces and a great group coming back," said Riddle. "We will have some great tests against a lot of nationally-ranked teams."

The Bearcats will kick off their season at the Queens Invitational (Sept. 17-18) in Kannapolis, N.C. Lander will then head south for the Jay Jennison Cup (Sept. 24-25) in St. Augustine, Fla. The following week, the Bearcats travel to Daniels, W.V., for the NCAA Division II Preview (Oct. 1-2). The fall portion of the schedule concludes with the Copperhead Championship (Oct. 15-16) in Palm Harbor, Fla.

The Newberry Invitational (Feb. 18-19) opens the spring season in Kiawah Island, S.C. Lander will then participate in the Hurricane Invitational (Feb. 25-26) in Albany, Ga. The Bearcats will play three tournaments in the month of March, beginning with the Southeastern Collegiate (March 11-12) in Valdosta, Ga. The next week, Lander returns to Georgia for the Bobcat Invitational (March 18-19) in Eatonton. The Bearcats wrap up the regular season by hosting the Bearcat Classic (March 25-26).

Lander finished in the top-five of five events last season and placed two players on the all-conference team. Four Bearcats improved their stroke average from 2016-17 and three different players notched top-10 finishes.
