The Lander volleyball team was picked fifth in the Preseason Peach Belt Conference Coaches Poll, the league announced on Wednesday.
The Bearcats, who collected 14 points, were one point above Francis Marion, which was selected sixth with 13 points. Lander has been chosen in the fifth or higher in each of the last three PBC preseason polls. Flagler was picked first (36 points) and was followed by Georgia College (28), Augusta (26) and USC Aiken (24).
The Bearcats return four starters, Imari Ashley, Nell Copeland, Hannah Hritz and Hannah McManus, from their 2017 team that recorded a 15-12 record.
The season officially starts on August 24 with the Bearcats competing in the USC Aiken Opening Weekend Tournament.
