GREENWOOD – The Lander men's cross country team was voted seventh in the Peach Belt Conference preseason coaches poll, it was announced Wednesday morning. The ranking marks an improvement from last year, when the Bearcats were selected eighth.
Lander returns five of its seven runners from last season and added seven newcomers during the offseason. Sophomores McKenna Burrows, Josh Chapman, Evin Fortenberry, Yancy Killian and Turner Kirby all ran for the Bearcats in 2017, while former runner Dylan Scott will serve as a volunteer assistant to head coach Kevin Scola.
The Bearcats open the 2018 campaign on Friday night at the Eye Opener Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C.
